...Its Magnificent

Well I'm in Hampshire now and I did just as I promised drop through Bedford to take photos of the Britannia Iron Works gate, sadly there is now a housing estate on the site but behind you can see the remnents of the rail network that would have come into the works.

to take the photos we parked in the Bedford Hospital car park right opposite the gate (its free for 10 minuites) sadly we stayed 18 minuites and we had to pay £3.50 after we were done we payed and drove out turning left up Britannia road and left again at the top, we left past the Corination Works and through Stuartby towards the big chimney marked Stuartby once we passed we were running parralel with the new bedford duel carrigeway and we went on to milton keynes through oxford and suouth.

I suppose you want to see the pictures though, well here they are.

I took a few pictures of whats behind the gate on the site of the old works and inside the gatehouse

Thats Dad, he bought the plough that gave birth to this blog

this is part of the Hospital opposite, probably built around the same time as the Ironworks

there are more photos that I will upload soon they are on my Dad's camera and there are even some of me on it.

Well I hope you enjoyed those photos, I took pictures of it at every possible angle apart from above for you and you even got to see pictures of the original wall with original ironwork on the wall. The intricate design on the gates are cast iron not carving.

As i have said before "Keep on Howarding"
